The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.
But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.
In an area that has among the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
